Matt LeBlanc on MWC

Before finding fame as Joey Tribbiani on Friends and later winning a Golden Globe for his role in Episodes (can be viewed via this link), Matt LeBlanc had one of his first acting roles on Married with Children, as Kelly’s boyfriend on the show. His character, Vinnie Verducci, appeared on three episodes of MWC: Oldies but Young ‘Uns (Season 5, Ep.17), Top of the Heap (Season 5, Ep.20) and Kelly Does Hollywood: Part 1 (Season 6, Ep.9).

Vinnie Verducci is the dimwitted son of Charlie Verducci (Joseph Bologna) who is one of Al Bundy’s childhood friends. Vinnie, who is 20 years old when he first appears on the show, lives with his divorced father in the inner city slums of Chicago. The Verducci’s live in the building where Charlie works as a superintendent. Vinnie himself works as a busboy, though later he becomes a superintendent like his father.

Vinnie is considered to be the “Male Kelly Bundy” and Bud even jokes that he believes Vinnie is Kelly’s long lost brother. Vinnie is extremely good looking and generally seen wearing a black leather jacket and jeans. Many hints to Vinnie’s lack of intelligence are given when he first appears in the series, such as when he brings Kelly the book “Garfield Spoils the Picnic” on their first date. Vinnie is very attracted to Kelly, but doesn’t initially act on this attraction. He’s been warned by Al that there is a “look, don’t touch” policy in regards to Kelly. He only gets over this fear after talking to the angel and the devil on his shoulder. Both of these figures tell him to “go for it”.
